E. C. Jeter Funeral services for E.C. Jeter, 78, retired farmer of the Mountain Creek Church section, will be Thursday afternoon at 1 o'clock at Mountain Creek Baptist Church. His pastor, the Rev. James B. Ray. will officiate, assisted by Dr. C Frank Pittman and the Rev. J. A. Cave. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be grandsons: Harvey Vaughn, I. M. Vaughn, Jr. James Jeter, Leon Jeter, Eugene Jeter and Edwin Jeter. The honorary escort will include the board of deacons and the Men's Bible Class of Mountain Creek Baptist Church, members of Taylors Lodge, AFM. together with Mark Bradley, E. T. Turner F. A. Dickens. J. S. Loftis. Dr. T. E. Coleman, Dr. S. I. Coleman, Wade H. Batson and Asbury Benefield. The active pallbearers and honorary escort have been asked to meet at the church at 2:50 o'clock. Mr. Jeter's death followed three weeks of illness and occurred at 1:50 o'clock Wednesday morning in a Travelers Rest hospital. Born and reared in Union County, he was a son of the late James P. and Julia Frances Ison Jeter. For 45 years he had resided with his family in the Mountain Creek section. Having located there in early life. He was actively engaged in farming until his retirement some years ago. he was a member of Mountain Creek Baptist Church and was a regular attendant as long as his health permitted. He was also a member of Taylors Lodge, AFM. In addition to his wife, Mrs. Janie Allen Jeter he is survived by four daughters, Mrs. H.O. Kimbrell of Greer, Mrs. R. L. DeYoung of Spartanburg. Mrs. Ansel A. Vaughn and Mrs. I. M. Vaughn of Greenville, Rout 5; three sons, E.E. Jeter and E.L. Jeter of Greenville and D.G. Jeter of Ware Shoals; one sister, Mrs. E. M. Wilson of Amory, Miss; 27 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren. One hour before the service the body will be placed in the church. Until that time it will be at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home.

Mrs. Janie Jeter Mrs. Janie Allen Jeter, 84, died after a sudden attack at 4:45 p.m. Thursday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. H.O. Kimbrell, Greer, Rt. 6, where she had made her home for the past month. Mrs. Jeter was born in Laurens County but spent most of her life in the Mountain Creek community of Greenville County. She was a member of the Mountain Creek Baptist Church. Since the death of her husband, E. C. Jeter, who died in March, 1950, Mrs. Jeter has made her home with her children. She was a daughter of the late William and Margaret Workman Allen. Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. H.O. Kimbrell of Greer, Rt. 6, Mrs. R.D. DeYoung of Spartanburg, Mrs. Ansel A. Vaughn and Mrs. I.M. Vaughn of Greenville, Rt. 5; three sons, E.E. Jeter of Greenville, E.L. Jeter of Bradenton, Fla., D.G. Jeter of Ware Shoals; two sisters, Mrs. Arthur Walsh of Greenville and Mrs. B. F. West of Hendersonville, N.C.; 27 grandchildren, 44 greatgrandchildren and one great-great-grandson. Funeral arrangements will be announced by Thomas McAfee Funeral Home.
