Marion M. Cornwell Sr. Marion M cornwell Sr., 79 of 1231 Hanton Ave. Fort Myers, died Saturday in Lee Memorial Hospital. A native of Chester, S.C., he has been a resident of Fort Myers since 1926.
A graduate of Clemson College, he practiced architecture in South Carolina before moving to this area. he was a general contractor in Fort Myers until his retirement. He was a veteran of W.W.I and served the U.S. Navy Seabees in W.W.II. He was a Lt. Commander.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Fort Myers and was a charter member of the Five County Contractors Association.
He is survived by his wife, Oppie S. Cornwell of Fort Myers; two sons, M.M. Cornwell Jr. and Nat S. Cornwell, both of Fort Myers; two sisters; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be Monday at 11 a.m. at the chapel of the Harvey Funeral Home with the Rev. Bryan Robinson, pastor of the First Baptist Church, officiating.
Burial will be in Memorial Gardens.
