He was the the son of James Ryan, Sr and Cornelia Caveny Jeter. He was the member of Salem Baptist Church a Mason and First Sergeant of SC Highway Patrol where he served for 30 years. A U. S. Army World War II Veteran and Korean War Veteran. Graveside funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 9, 1991 in Jeter Cemetery, Santuck, SC.
