Dexter Jeter
Ware Shoals - Dexter Groves Jeter, 85, of 51 Dairy St., husband fo Marie Bryant Jeter, died March 15, 1995 at Self Memorial Hospital.
Born in Grenville County, he was a son of the late Eula Claude and Janie Allen Jeter. He was a graduate of Furman University and was a retired educator. He was a member of the Ware Shoals First Baptist Church where he had served as a Sunday School teacher, deacon, and on various committees over the years. He was also a member of the Ware Shoals District 51 School Board in the 1970's.
Surviving, in addition to his wife of the home, are a son, Dexter Jeter II of Ware Shoals; three daughters, Marian Woolsey of Aiken, Clara Jeffery of Ft. Wayne, Ind., and Harriet Rice of Liberty; eight grandchildren; two step grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and three step great-grandchildren.
Services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Ware Shoals First Baptist Church with the Rev. Dan Compton officiating. Burial will be in Phillipi Baptist Church Cemetery in Johnston.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Parker-White Funeral Home.
The body will be placed in the church at 10 a.m. Friday.
